NWPP Engineer Forum - PGE's Smart Grid Project

The Portland General Electric Smart Grid Testbed Program is a multi-year effort to expand customer acceptance and adoption of demand response and load management technologies.  The program’s activities, focused within three substations, are helping to inform program design and assess the technical potential of load management in the PGE service territory.  To build the Test Bed, PGE will upgrade existing feeders and substations with advanced automation distribution technologies. These upgraded sensors, processors and communication devices can help improve reliability and service quality. They’ll also transform the traditional one-way flow of electricity into a two-way flow of electricity and information.
