NOV 23 Engineers Forum Session Webcast - UAMPS NuScale Modular Nuclear Reactor

OVERVIEW

The Utah Associated Municipal Power Systems (UAMPS) is developing a small modular nuclear reactor project in Idaho, the Carbon Free Power Project.  The Project will be the first deployment of the NuScale Power Module technology.  Leadership from UAMPS and NuScale will be briefing NWPP membership on the NuScale technology as well as the status of UAMPS project development including the Project schedule, costs, development structure, licensing, and subscription.

Presenters include:

Dr. Jose Reyes is cofounder of NuScale Power and codesigner of NuScale passively-cooled small nuclear reactor. He has served in several key technical and director positions including head of Department of Nuclear Engineering and Radiation Health Physics at Oregon State University. He holds a PhD and MS in nuclear engineering from University of Maryland. He is a licensed engineer in the state of Oregon.

 Mr. Douglas Hunter is CEO and General Manager of UAMPS and has held the CEO/GM position since 1995. He joined UAMPS in 1983. He holds an MBA from Utah State University and BS in biochemistry from UC, Davis. He is also a past chair of American Public Power Assocation (APPA).

Mr. Mason Baker is Cheif Legal Officer and General Counsel for UAMPS. He holds a law degree from University of Utah and a BA in philosophy from Colorado College. He also holds a certificate in Environmental and Natural Resources Law from U of U. 

Mr. Mark Gendron is the special advisor for the Carbon Free Power Project at UAMPS. Mark has 40 years experience in the electric utility business, most notably as GM for Idaho Falls Power (1995-2005) and Senior Vice-president for Power Services at BPA (2014-17), and interim CEO for Northwest Requirements Utilities (2018-19).
