SALARY AND BENEFITS:
In addition to a competitive salary range of $85,000 - $135,000 Western Power Pool employees enjoy outstanding benefits including medical, dental, vision, short and long-term disability, an insurance premium contribution, a flexible spending account, 401k contribution, personal leave, and educational reimbursement.

JOB PURPOSE:
We are seeking a Technical Trainer who would like to be part of the WPP team developing some of the best online Power System Operations training in the industry. You must be comfortable in a team environment where you're afforded the ability to flex your creative muscle and technical expertise. Our in-house training and creative team is looking for a Technical Trainer that is able to develop operations training courses that support System Operators maintaining their NERC credentials and our member companies’ PER-005 training programs.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Work with Creative team to develop video productions and technical trainings
- Develop technical scripts and / or interview questions for subject matter experts in related operations subjects.
- Implement courses on our online platform including but not limited to challenge and test questions, lesson plans and ILAs
- Expected to handle some light video editing (will train)
- Work with Members of the WPP in helping identify training needs
POST-SECONDARY EDUCATION:
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field or equivalent Power System Operations experience
EXPERIENCE:
- 3-5 years of System Operations experience or technical training experience. Applicant should have demonstrated proficiency with tools and skills required for the job including:
REQUIRED:
- Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Teams
- NERC System Operator Certificate (RC preferred) or ability to obtain within 1 year
- Knowledge of NERC and WECC Standards
- Understanding of Bulk Electric System Operations
- Strong public speaking skills
PREFERRED:
- Adobe Captivate or similar product
- Familiarity with NERC SOCCED system
- WECC / NERC / NATF Committee experience
- Familiarity with Mac products and operating systems
SKILLS:
- The ability to understand and transform complex topics into clear and compelling explanations
- Excellent communication, interpersonal and organizational skills
- Ability to manage multiple projects, to work well under pressure, and on short deadlines
- Must be a self-starter with a willingness to learn
- Ability to take direction well and to ask questions when needed
- Team player with a positive attitude and a commitment to a positive work environment

Must be a U.S. Citizen or legally authorized to work in the United States as a permanent resident. Depending on qualifications of applicants, this position may be filled at a higher level than that which is posted such as Senior Technical Trainer.
