Well, you’re in the right place! Western Power Pool is hiring a Software Engineer to join our team in Portland, OR!

Key Details:

  • Pay: $120,000 – 140,000/year DOE
  • Location: Remote - must reside in one of the following states: OR, WA, ID, MT, AZ, CA, NV, NM, UT, WY
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday – Friday, PST time

Who You Are: You are passionate about applying technology solutions to business challenges and can offer options about how technology can support organizational goals and strategic objectives. You have experience not only in software development and QA, but also partnering with leadership to create the roadmap to get there. Qualifications include:

  • 5 – 10 years’ professional experience as a Systems Analyst, Software Engineer, or combination of the two
  • Demonstrated software development experience with a preference for full-stack development (framework and language agnostic)
  • Experience in Systems Analysis
  • End-to-end full-stack Software Development experience, including testing and QA
  • Open to experience with various technologies, frameworks, and development environments
  • Experience working in a small-mid-sized organization or start-up environment – wearing all the hats, working with limited resources, engaging with stakeholders
  • Degree in Computer Science, or related field, or years of experience in lieu of a degree

Preferred qualifications:

  • Experience or interest in the energy industry.
  • Experience managing AWS infrastructure

What You’ll Do: You’ll partner with program and organizational leadership to develop technical solutions to business challenges. Your work will be a balance of software development (50%), systems analysis (30%), and project management (20%). 

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Management of the entire SDLC, including requirements gathering, understanding the supporting business processes, software development, testing, and roll-out
  • Creating and managing process documentation, supporting business continuity
  • Understanding business context, the broader environment and organizational goals, and bringing innovative technology solutions to the table
  • Supporting corporate shared services, projects, and programs with innovative technology solutions
  • Managing current environments and technology used:
    • Django application support and development, hosted in an AWS environment
    • Visual C++ (in-house application)
    • PowerShell
