Well, you’re in the right place! Western Power Pool is hiring a Transmission Planning Intern to join our team in Portland, OR!
Key Details:
Pay: $20.70 to $22.50 per hour
Location: Remote - must reside in one of the following states: OR, WA, ID, MT, AZ, CA, NV, NM, UT, WI, WY
Schedule: 10-20 hours per week depending on schedule and availability
Duration: This position is temporary and is currently funded through June of 2025.

Who You Are: A currently enrolled undergraduate or graduate level student at an ABET accredited college or university studying Electrical Engineering with a focus on Power Systems Engineering. Interested in gaining hands-on experience with Transmission Planning and study work.
Qualifications include:
- Must be 18 years of age or older
- Must be enrolled in an ABET accredited Electrical Engineering Program as a full-time student
- Pursuing BS/MS in Engineering; power option studies is a plus
- Must have completed at least one upper level (300+) Power Systems course; an example might include
- Power Systems 1 or the equivalent
- An enthusiasm for engineering and a strong desire to learn from experienced engineering staff
Preferred qualifications:
- Grade point average of 3.0 or higher
- Exposure to one or more software programs utilized for power systems modeling
- Exposure to programming language; examples include Python or C++
What You’ll Do: This position will work in support of WPP’s Regional Transmission Planning Services business unit. The selected candidate will work closely with and be mentored by the Manager of Regional Transmission Planning Services and Principal Engineer. You’ll have the opportunity to work on model development, validation, data analysis and gain exposure to the various power systems modeling efforts undertaken by WPP. This position may also support certain administrative functions including meeting support, development of communications materials and note taking.
