Key Details:

  • Pay: $149,000 – $170,000/year DOE
  • Location: Remote in select states - must reside within the following areas: AZ, OR, WA, UT, NV, CA, WY, MT, ID, NM, CO, El Paso TX
  • Schedule: Full-time, Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm PPT

Qualifications include:

  • 8 -10 years in utilities, power marketing, power resource optimization, or power portfolio management with experience serving in a technical role, such as engineering, power operations, software development, data analytics, or economics
  • Experience in resource adequacy programs and resource planning processes
  • Knowledge of power operations, power scheduling, outage coordination, reliability standards, reserve sharing, and compliance
  • Detailed understanding of electric power generation and resource planning principles, including power capacity analysis and reliability evaluations
  • Knowledge of data and systems necessary to support trading, scheduling, and resource optimization
  • Knowledge of effectuating settlement calculations
  • Experience in front-office trading or system operations, including OATI tagging platform and other portal-based systems
  • Knowledge of power generation and production, utility operations
  • Knowledge of the Western bilateral energy market, the California ISO, and SPP Markets+
  • Ability to perform complex analytical tasks, modeling systems, performing economic analysis, and application of statistics, finance, mathematics, and problem solving
  • Experience managing projects and programs
  • Experience facilitating or working directly with a diverse group of outside stakeholders
  • Excellent communications and collaboration skills, including demonstrated experience working with technical SMEs, policy staff, executives and decision makers
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, economics, operations research, mathematics, business (or related fields) 

What You’ll Do: As WRAP Operations Manager, you’ll lead the implementation and ongoing operations of the Western Resource Adequacy Program (WRAP), acting as the WRAP Operations Program technical subject matter expert, primary liaison and contract manager, supporting WRAP participants as they integrate the program into their business processes. You’ll lead working groups, oversee successful deployment of the Operations Program, and drive continuous improvement. Your work will span technical operations, stakeholder engagement, and strategic planning ensuring WPP delivers on its commitments and remains at the forefront of regional coordination and reliability efforts.

Additional responsibilities include, but are not limited to:

  • Managing the day-to-day relationship and contract with the Southwest Power Pool (SPP)
  • Collaborating with internal teams and WRAP external participants to assess and address operational impacts of evolving markets and reliability programs
  • Leading new WRAP participant onboarding and implementation efforts
  • Supporting participant task forces and facilitating working groups to effectuate collaborative problem-solving and program alignment
  • Drafting, updating, and maintaining Business Practice Manuals and other key program documentation
  • Supporting compliance activities by developing and implementing Standard Operating Procedures between WPP and SPP
  • Developing training aids and conducting hands-on training with participants
  • Representing WPP in industry forums, conferences, and stakeholder processes to promote program understanding and engagement
  • Providing strategic and analytical support on regional coordination initiatives, including long-term grid and resource planning
